Motherhood is always complicated. It is a far fetched goal, an ideal for many women, others not so much. Curious about the definition of motherhood, Maryam draws connections between similarities and differences between herself and her own mother, distinguishing their destinies, character and moral values. In Laut & Bumi(Sea and Earth), the artist uses performance arts in a 5 min film, defining the means of mother and daughter bonds, remeniscing the woman she knew from childhood, and the girlhood she had to leave behind as she sets foot into womanhood herself.
