And as consumerism betrays the efforts in recognizing pressing issues, so does waste. In this performance, the artist took thrifted clothes she purchased off a neighbourhood London mall, off her body, stripped physically off herself and put onto a chair, as if it was a being, a Subject. She then, naked from head to toe besides her undergarments, read out a short speech from her journal. Hence the question: Once I am discarded from my life, and met with my ending, will I return to only being Object? This helps to spread awareness on today’s consumerism and the use of objects as justification for that matter. The clothes she picked out were on a grayscale color palette, greys and whites. She stressed the significance of objects with identity, of the Self. To consider thought about the lives of boring office workers, slumming till the day ends, a routine that drives you to death.
