Shijo
Bridge

During her 1 week break from her internship, Maryam struggled finding purpose in her talent, considering her experience in the arts was low and she had little knowledge in that field since her early school days. A day before leaving to Singapore, the artist took a stroll along the Shijo Bridge to take in what was left of her youth before returning to her hustling life back in her hometown. Those 7 days brought her peace and comfort, as she pondered over what her life could become if she chose an alternative life outside her country, if she chose to live in Japan instead. Upon returning from her trip, Maryam inhibited those mixed feelings and frustrations on canvas, exhibiting the reality of her rash thoughts on leaving her hometown and choosing to fit in a country she was never born into
